Rose B. Simpson (born 1983) is a Tewa artist from Kha'p'oe Owingeh (Santa Clara Pueblo) in New Mexico. She is a multi-disciplinary artist working in sculpture, ceramics, installation, performance, music, writing, and custom car building. Simpson's monumental ceramic and mixed-media figures explore themes of community, vulnerability, and resilience. Her 2018 sculpture "Counterculture" — a 7-foot ceramic figure placed atop the Denver Art Museum — became iconic. She comes from a celebrated lineage of Pueblo potters including her mother Roxanne Swentzell. Simpson holds an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and has shown at the Met, the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston, and museums worldwide. Her work pushes ceramics far beyond its traditional boundaries.
