A Tribe Called Red (now known as The Halluci Nation) is a Canadian electronic music group that blends traditional powwow vocals and drumming with modern electronic dance music, hip-hop, and dubstep. Founded in 2008 in Ottawa by DJs Bear Witness (Cayuga), NDN (Ojibwe), and 2oolman, the group pioneered the genre they call "powwow step." Their self-titled debut album and follow-ups "Nation II Nation" (2013) and "We Are the Halluci Nation" (2016) received widespread acclaim and Juno Awards. The group's Electric Pow Wow dance nights became legendary gatherings celebrating Indigenous culture in urban spaces. Their music has been a rallying cry for Indigenous pride and resistance, featured in film, television, and protest movements worldwide.
